Files Petition With the FDA
Petition to Have Eternity eau de parfum Misbranded
To: The Food and Drug Administration As a cancer survivor, I suffer from a challenged immune system (due to radiation therapy) that left me with multiple chemical sensitivities. Exposure to fragrances is especially lethal causing me to become disoriented, dizzy, nauseous, depressed, achey, fatigued and a host of other disabilities that have adversely impacted my ability to support myself adequately. Hence, having limited employment opportunities for fear of exposure to fragrances in the workplace, I have had to declare bankruptcy. Even the prospect of shared housing with others (to reduce expenses) is limited only to others who also suffer from multiple chemical sensitivities, and who also face financial crises themselves. Moreover, I have had to live in isolation limiting social contacts and outings with family, friends and acquaintenances. And so today, I am requesting that the FDA -at the very least- require warning labels on all perfumes that have not been extensively tested for safety. It is my hope that awareness of the health hazards of fragrances be raised and that there be increased acceptance of employers to implement policies requesting staff and visitors not to use fragranced products in the workplace. Perhaps then, those of us who suffer in isolation for fear of fragrance exposure, can consider the workplace for gainful employment without jeopardizing our health. I appreciation your serious consideration of this issue. Ester Soriano
